West Oxfordshire Sailing club has a comprehensive and keenly fought year long racing calendar covering boats from Optimists to Wayfarers, racing in general handicap, fast (PN less or equal to Wayfarer 1105), slow, single handed and crewed fleets.
During the spring and summer months we run 3 races a day on a Sunday and one race on a Wednesday evening. In the winter, there are 2 races every Sunday. We have a number of one-day events for those members unable to qualify for a long series along with fun events such as an 8-Hour Race and a Midsummer Night race. Juniors compete in their own dedicated series in late summer and early autumn.
Race training for beginners is provided once a month on a Sunday morning during the spring and summer. Those new to racing may find this guide for beginners useful.
The club owns fleets of Optimists, Toppers, Fireflies and Wayfarers, all of which are available for hire by members.
We hold a number of open meetings each year for a number of classes such as Fireflies, Lightnings, Solos and Wayfarers.
We have been home to a number of National Championships and boast several past national champions among our current membership.
