"Evening 2" series Wednesday club racing starts on 24 June 2025 and continues through the next 11 Wednesdays.

Start time is 7.15pm until the end of July then 7pm through August and up to mid-September. Each race runs for approximately 1 hour.

7 out of 12 to count - Single start, single finish from which results for Single-handed and Crewed will be taken.

The results from Evening 1 and Evening 2 will also be combined for the "Evening Paddle" General Handicap series (13 out of 24 to count).

Come and Join in, plus the BBQ will be lit and the bar is usually open for an hour or so... after racing finishes.

Please turn up for 10:00hrs if you wish to join a team and don't have one - (or join conversations in club WhatsApp groups like the crewing one or the women's one).
We very much welcome new sailors to join in the fun, even if you only wish to crew, but you'd be welcome to helm of course. Rule number one is to have fun. (second to the other rule number one, which is to not crash.)

This is a fun, family Event - 30th August 2026 - this aims to be a social event, so ideal if you're new and wish to meet some other sailors and families.

Juniors are allowed to sail too, although they normally team up against the adults so watch out for those cheeky little things, they overtake when you least expect. There's also prizes for the winning junior team so two chances to win.

Bring your own picnic for the day, and pre-order food for the evening. Please be aware that there will be no access to the BBQ and limited access to the galley. We have organised food including vegetarian options for the evening (see below for how to pre-order), and the bar is open so bring your spending money. We have live band Rockingham playing classic rock covers in the evening, followed by music inside the clubhouse after dark.

Evening food will be a choice between beef burger or hot dog with salad, coleslaw and spicy rice, with vegan/veggie burgers or sausages available. Also on offer will be a selection of sauces. All meal options are £12.95. This food will be served from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, but needs to be ordered and paid for by 24 August at the latest, by using this food order registration link.

Visiting teams are welcome, so do invite sailors from outside the club.

Camping is available on Saturday and Sunday night.

Rules - Minimum team size 6, to race two boats per team (one single handed, one crewed) for 8 hours changing the complete crew every 2 laps.

Prizes given on the day, prize for the winning junior team.

Pre-order your evening food for the WOSC 8 Hour Race

We have organised catering for the evening of the 8-hour race. There will be a choice of burger or hot dog, meat or vegan/veggie, all with salad, coleslaw and spicy rice. You need to place your order and pay in advance by 24 August at the latest.

Please use the registration link to choose how many of each option you would like to order. Evening food will be served between 6:30pm and 8:30pm.

Refer to the 8-hour race information for full details of the events on the day, which include racing in team, swimming and a live band in the evening.

Novices Regatta (13/09/2026)

General Handicap racing for novice club racers

The Novices Regatta is aimed at club members with some sailing experience but no or limited racing experience.

Adult and Junior helms can qualify by taking part in at least two Saturday Recreational Sailing sessions, or by completing the RYA adult level 3 or RYA Youth Stage 3/4 course. Experienced club sailors cannot take part as helms but are allowed to crew for a novice helm.

There will be briefing at 11:30. The Novices Regatta will consist of between 3 and 5 races of 30-40 minutes around a simple course. The single general handicap start will follow the usual 5-4-1-0 sequence. The first race will start at 12:00 (preparatory signal at 11:55). The number of races will depend on the conditions on the day; there will be one discard if 3 or more races are sailed.

General Handicap results based on the boat Portsmouth Number will be calculated and prizes will be given on the day for the first three boats.
